The Key to Handling a Roadside Emergency Safely

There is really no telling when you will be stranded on the side of a road because something went wrong with your vehicle. Keep these roadside emergency safety tips in mind each week before you travel.

  • As long as the car is still running after a blowout, ride on the rim until you move the vehicle off the road to the safety of the shoulder.
  • At night, keep as many lights on as possible to give other drivers a clear indication your vehicle is stuck off the side of the road they're driving.
  • Stay in your locked car until you can see that a police car is behind you.
  • Place any road flares you have a few car lengths up the road so drivers have the time to react accordingly.

The crew at Henry Curtis Ford wants to offer these tips to help you and your passengers stay safer on the roads.
